Me and My Body

That’s me. Holy sh*t. That’s me.

Doing a REALLY HARD yoga pose (for me). I look at this picture and don’t believe it’s really me.

Ever since I gave birth, I’ve had an even more complex relationship with my body.

My boobs sag so much more than I ever thought they would.

I have loose skin in my belly from housing, growing, and nourishing a baby.

I have yet to lose all the baby weight. (Yep. Dre is almost 4 years old and I still have 15-20 pounds left to lose that I have lost and gained about 3 different times.)

And…there’s my lower back. It finally gave out after pregnancy and I have chronic pain in my lower back every day.

It has limited me A LOT.

Over the 4 years or so since pregnancy and birth, the thought that my body is “not good” has slowly crept in.

While I healed my old trauma, while I worked on my money mindset, while rewiring my brain for other (amazing) things, I let my body image slip…even further down a hole.

I realized I needed to get back to working on this more diligently…and I was ready to invest in my health and body in a new, brave and different way.

So I hired a private Yoga Therapist, Alethia. (@alethiamex @respirawellnessmx on IG) and FUCK.

My relationship with my body has completely changed.

I’m not going to lie and say that I feel like a supermodel. LMAO. Bc that’s bullshit. But…I’m learning to actually like my body again. I’m learning that my body STILL WORKS. In ways I never thought possible. I can do poses and stretches that I had NO CLUE I was capable of doing. And Alethia has breathed such love into me. She's given me the space to cry (yes, crying happens in yoga therapy lol), to celebrate, to grieve, to vent, to set goals…and she has given me the space to BELIEVE in myself again. In my body and what it can do.I feel less broken everyday that I continue with my practice. I feel I have more self-esteem. More confidence in how strong my body is. It's capable of so much.

So…I want to implore you to invest in yourself. Whatever you know you need to work on…work on it. Find the right mentor, coach, therapist and INVEST in yourself. When you choose the right person to help you in your growth, it can truly be a life-changing experience.
